Why we host students at our Brampton office

Anita Perera Law is a host employer for the Peel District School Board’s Co-operative Education Program, and for Humber College’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Placement Program. That means high school students and paralegal students spend part of their term working in our office rather than reading about the work in a classroom.

Not filing and coffee. Students see how a real file moves — the documents, the deadlines, the phone calls with lenders and opposing counsel, the parts of legal work that nobody describes properly until you have watched it happen.

For a high school student thinking about law, that is often the first honest look at whether the job resembles what they imagined.

Anita built a legal career twice — first in Sri Lanka, then again in Canada after requalifying. She knows what it is to want into a profession without a clear map of how to get there.

Placements are a small thing a firm this size can offer: a real look inside, from people who will answer questions honestly.

If you are a student in the Peel District School Board co-op programme, or a paralegal student at Humber looking at ADR placements, placements at our office run through those programmes. Speak to your co-op teacher or placement coordinator.
