Our Story
Anita Perera Law was founded in 2016 by Anita Perera, who built a legal career twice — first as a lawyer in Sri Lanka, then again in Canada, where she requalified and was called to the Ontario bar in 2016. That journey shaped how the firm practices law today: with patience, plain language, and an understanding that navigating the legal system can be intimidating, especially for newcomers.
What started as one lawyer’s practice has grown into a family commitment. Anita’s daughter, Dewmini, was called to the bar in 2025, and her son, Shenol, is currently completing his path to becoming a lawyer. Together with a growing team, Anita Perera Law continues to serve Brampton and the GTA across real estate law, immigration law, family law, wills & estates, and more.

Anita Perera Law is a host employer for the Peel District School Board’s Co-operative Education Program, offering high school students hands-on workplace experience at the firm, as well as Humber College’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Placement Program for paralegal students.
A placement here is not filing and photocopying. Students see how a real matter moves — how documents get tracked, what actually happens between the first phone call and the closing. For most of them it is the first honest look at whether legal work resembles what they imagined
